After the video of the young lady who was yelling at nurses in a Kenyan hospital went viral, people decided to finally have that conversation about the deplorable state of the hospitals in Kenya. In many cases, patients have died while waiting to be attended. They have died on the hospital seats as they wait to confirm financing since hospitals will not treat you until they confirm that you will be able to pay. In short, they would rather watch you die than treat you. Here’s how some of that conversation went!

We keep defending negligence in public hospitals until the disaster strikes closer to our doors that’s when we see the Sense. We need to have a candid discussion on the health management in this country. If you are paid by the taxpayers money to provide a service then you should do it religiously. Why are we hard on police officers or even teachers paid by the same taxpayers money but feign excuses when it comes to health practitioners. We need equal treatment.

How many times have we seen expecting mothers deliver on the waiting lobby of an hospital? #Inauma

Me too I don’t seem to understand what the hullabaloo is all about … The laxity/lethargy in the public sector …is on. Another level actually I would never be bothered if she did worse …it’s really provoking seeing staff chitchatting…badala ya kutibu wagonjwa

I don’t blame that lady, you can even do worse in those public health facilities, I have a child who was 3months old was taken for malaria treatment, the nurses injected the granular on the skin instead of the veins, the drug went directly to the skin and it started rotting and now they are talking of amputation of the arm, what do you do in that situation?
