How much worse is Mount Kenya region under Ruto?
According to Eng Kariuki Muthoni, it’s a nightmare unforeseen. He says
“The story on Citizen TV about Macadamia has left me in shock. Imagine, for the last five years, Macadamia has greatly helped the youth in the Mount Kenya region. Macadamia used to cost 200 shillings per kilogram before Uhuru left office, making many families across Mount Kenya millionaires. Now, a kilogram costs less than 20 shillings, and no store is willing to buy, leading to the closure of many businesses and the loss of jobs for thousands of youths.
I thought Gacagwa would be our savior, let alone a KIPIN. Now, he only goes to discos everywhere, not caring to know about Mount Kenya’s valuable resource. I was reading an article today and saw that the funds allocated for fisheries by Kibaki’s government have been diverted to the coastal region. Like other projects, funds have been redirected to different areas, and this issue has gone unnoticed, and there is still silence. We will miss Uhuru.”
But is it only Mount Kenyans complaining? There are celebrations from other parts of the country so it’s not all doom and gloom.
Across the country Aaron Cheruiyot, says
“Pleased to be part of the empowerment movement that will change the fortunes of the Dairy farmers in our region.
The Kisiara Dairy Cooperative, started last year is an epitome of Bottom Up and a paragon of success. The leaps it has made is a testament that with the right foundation and hard work, success can be realized.
Iβm impressed by the determination of shareholders and the dream to establish a multi million organization that will transcend generations.”
