It may be a little late in the day but I want to wholeheartedly congratulate Dr William Ruto on earning his PhD. He now joins the 0.5 percent of the world’s population who have earned this.
As you earthlings who belong to the 99.5 percent of the world’s population who have no PhD, bitterly spew your thoughts, let me give you some statistics.
If you include all doctorates, including fake ones, honorary doctorates (meaning they don’t REALLY have a doctorate) and paper mills that do not require any work, in the whole world the percentage of people with doctorates is still less than 4%
If you do not include those kinds of doctorates, the percentage drops to 1% or less globally.
Probably more accurate the number of people with a hard earned doctorate would be around 0.1–0.5%.
Belated congratulations and deep respect to anyone who has earned a doctorate.
