When Abel Mutua posted a paybill number online for his brother’s funeral, he was met with a lot of anger that Kenyans had been holding in. In other words he was the straw that broke the camel’s ๐ซ back.
One netizen remarked:
“But for real though, not that we are being insensitive but what’s the Paybill number for?
If he had left behind a huge hospital bill, absolutely! hapo tusaidiane kama wakenya
If he had left behind a wife and kids, absolutely!tusaidie bibi na watoto
He left none of those behind. The brothers, close friends and family are financially stable and able to give him a befitting send off. People who can afford Land-rovers and Range rovers in this economy are not poor people. Whats the purpose of the Paybill ? You want to tell me a whatsapp group of close family and friends would not have sorted that out?
A good case of celebs taking advantage of their followers and if tables were turned, they’ll not do the same for their mere followers.

“Wanaeka till badala wauze gari wapate za kumzika….There are many people out here who need help but don’t even ask for it…..”
People recalled that when Anyang Nyong’o an extremely wealthy man lost his grandfather, he also opened a Paybill number and begged for money.
It would appear that it has become a custom to give people expensive funerals instead of supporting them when they are alive, is the conclusion.
