Eric Rugara Miyamoto has an opinion on everything. Well, he is a brilliant author so that’s to be expected. Here’s his take on comedy
A few years ago, one of the Kenyan rappers that used to be cited as a contender for the throne released a controversial political piece of poetry known as Wajinga Nyinyi. His name is King Kaka. In it, he lambasted the people who are behind many of the ills in society, mostly in the political scene, but one pastor caught a stray bullet in the following line:
“At least pastor Ng’ang’a amewashinda anadanganya hadharani.”
The guitar-wielding pastor was not amused, neither was he flattered. But that was in 2019. Now, recently the pastor was seen in an exorcism coaxing out a demon from a woman. As is usually the case in exorcisms, he asked the demon what it’s name was. The demon replied, “King Kaka.”
In this Kenya, comedy abounds everywhere you turn. If you don’t see it and use that opportunity to laugh away your problems, you are the problem!
