Melly Maulidi narrated thus
What’s with Kenyans and this tribe thing?
I met a Kenyan abroad and I guess he identified me with my wristband and he goes ahead to ask..
Him…aaah you are Kenyan huh …my name is Ken ….you?
Me…Melly ….
And Since that name doesn’t identify my tribe the chap goes ahead..
Him..what’s your other name?
Me…Maulid
And while that name too doesn’t give him what he wanted to know…he goes deeper.
Him….Where do you come from ?
Me…Nairobi
Him…where in Nairobi?
Me…Langata
Him…Na Ushago?
Jesus Christ!…
If they want to know your tribe why don’t people just go ahead and ask.
And what’s with the knowing my tribe ?.
You would think someone is looking for a lost relative.
It doesn’t change anything if we happen to come from same tribe.
Kenyan is just Kenyan.
All this is PROFILING.

I wear my Kenyan wristband with honour here in Tanzania. I am patriotic and a proud Luo for that matter.
I always gist Tanzanians when we are about to start going for maadamano.
