Mama kiongos is back to High School🎒📚
This is the statement that she gave on the day that she returned to high school after a long absence.
Hello this is Bridgit Atieno, I am 27yrs of age, I am a mother of one from Sinai industrial area an informal settlement slum in Nairobi. 12years ago I dropped out of school while in form 2. First I was in Jogoo road girls high school 2011 in Nairobi for my form one then later transferred to kubweye mixed secondary 2012 in migori county for my form 2 which I didn’t finish I went up to the beginning of term 2 and later dropped out because my parents were unable to continue paying my school fee and that of my other siblings.
So I had to drop out so the last one can study. I have hustled in this kanairo, I have seen dust in this hard earth and the opportunities I get most of them requires a certificate which I don’t have so I end up being disappointed😞. I have once in my life been nominated as a women representative in viwandani area makadara but I didn’t make it because I didn’t have the papers.
So that kinda made me make a decision to go back and finish my high school studies to avoid such situations again now that I have the chance. It has always been my dream to finish school and proceed to the university and do journalism or law that’s where my main interest coz nani it’s hard out here if you don’t have something better to do and let no one lie to you that papers are not important in life hizi vitu ni muhimu hata connection bila makaratasi ni kujisumbua and when you are too lucky unaweza penya bila makaratasi ukiwa na kitu kwa mfuko but if your pocket is empty and you also don’t have papers my friend it’ll lick you real bad 👎
In this life you have to know what works better for you and work towards achieving it, it doesn’t matter how you do it, it doesn’t matter after how long you’ll do, it doesn’t matter with whom you do it with what matters is how you do it and of what benefit is it to you and the people around you. . I want to straighten up my life and be able to give my son a better life. I am back because I have experienced hardship that can only be solved by getting myself educated so I can be of help to myself and those around me.
I want to be able to be a change maker to my community I want to be better than I am today I can’t wait to see what life has to offer because it’s never too late to dream again and achieve our goals in life we do it one step at a time
I am back to an adult high school for the sake of a better tomorrow I’ll do it 🙏
God your daughter is grateful🙏
